BIG SCARE!

Yesterday, Austin called me at 4:30pm saying he was just in a car accident. He said he was fine. No one was injured and that the tail end of his jaguar was ruined. He was just about to exchange info with the other driver when he ended his call with me. I was at work when this was all happening.
I was busy with a client at work when I felt my phone go off in my pocket but I couldn't answer it. Then my co-worker gave me the salon phone and it was Austin's mom on the phone. She told me that Austin was on his way to the hospital in an ambulance. Austin called his parent right after he got off the phone with me and that's when he started feeling dizzy and getting a headache.
I left my client to one of my co-workers to finish for me and I went straight to the hospital in Auburn. I am so grateful that we have a hospital so close! And I'm grateful that all this happened within a mile. He was less than a mile from my work when the accident happened. And the hospital is 2-3 miles away.
I got to the hospital right when Austin's family arrived. I found Austin in the ER with a neck brace on. I couldn't hold the tears ever since I left work. Austin said he was making a U-turn when the driver behind him hit the tail end of his car, making his car spin and hitting his head on the driver's window.
Austin's head and neck was hurting. He said, he could feel it hurting more and more as he laid there. (Probably because of the neck brace. He was trying to take it off to get a little more comfortable. lol.) He got a cat scan and they didn't find anything wrong, so he was discharged after 2 1/2 hours. They per prescribed him medication to take and told him to ice it on and off.
The first thing that Austin thought about when the accident happened was that he couldn't get any pumpkins seeds that I had baked that morning. He didn't even care about his jaguar, how bad it was messed up, or how much it would cost to get it fixed. He was looking forward to having those baked pumpkin seeds!
On the way home, Austin was telling me that he had a lot of time to think while he was in the ambulance and in the ER. He told me that he was taking his life for granted. He took this experience to finally realize that he needs to take the time to slow things down and have patience. And seeing how this really effected me when he saw me crying next to him, made him realize that he's not alone anymore. That he watch out for himself. When we were almost home, he told me that I was the best wife any man could ask for!
This was our Halloween Scare for this year and hopefully no more!

We added a new member to our Family!

This past weekend, Austin and I visited the Kent Animal Shelter. We saw this kitten standing tall in his cage, just staring at us. We filled out an adoption application so we can hold him. We were sent to a room with scratching posts and chairs so that we can play with him. The volunteer placed him on the scrating post and the kitten jumped right on top of me! We took that as a GREAT sign! He walked around my shoulders and then curled up on my chest. He also jumped unto Austin's shoulders and chilled right behind his head.

There was another family that saw him before us and they wanted him. We told the volunteer that we were interested in him as well. So we had an animal officer come and talk to us. She left and came back with paperwork, saying that she got us a kitty!

She told the other family, since they already have 3 cats of their own, if they adopted this kitten, the kitten might spread ring worm to the other cats.
The shelter had a ring worm breakout, so they're being extra cautious! So that's how we adopted our kitten.

On our way home, we let our kitten out and he just chilled right on my shoulders all the way home. He loves to sit right behind your head while you're driving somewhere. We also talked about a name for him on our way home.

We thought about Jimmy, from the Office....didn't work. Austin's family used to have a cat that looked just like him, named Grayson. I liked it! So we named him Grayson!

Welcome to your new Family, Grayson!
